# Authors

> Author management for the blog editor

Declare the `authors` capability to power Castro's author picker and author
management. Blog posts always carry the author's **display name** in the
`author` field of the post payload: this surface only manages the list users
pick from.

Implement:

* `GET /authors?per_page=&page=&search=` → bare JSON array
* `GET /authors/{id}` → one author
* `POST /authors` → create; `{ "username", "email" }` are always present, plus
  optional `display_name`, `first_name`, `last_name`, `description`, `role`,
  `url`
* `PUT /authors/{id}` → partial update
* `DELETE /authors/{id}` → `{ "deleted": true, "id" }`

Author object shape:

```json theme={null}
{
  "id": "7",
  "username": "jane",
  "email": "jane@your-site.com",
  "display_name": "Jane Levy",
  "first_name": "Jane",
  "last_name": "Levy",
  "description": "Running gear reviewer.",
  "url": "https://your-site.com/authors/jane"
}
```

If your platform has no user system, a simple `authors` table (or even a JSON
file) with names is enough: Castro only needs the names back.
